Sculptor - Jan Keijsers

I´m Dutch and in 2001 we moved to Hondón de las Nieves, a little village about 20 km from Alicante. Living in this part of Spain, where the ground is well provided with the inmortel marble, gives an almost privileged feeling. While searching for the right stones for my sculptures in the marble mines of Crema Marfil and Rojo Alicante, my urge to visualize the never ending possibilities is already challenged.

The naïf African art, the spirit and beating work of Henry Moore and the expressive art of Mari Andriessen are the driving forces behind my  drive to complete what the stones already expose.

It is the lacking of time that keeps unfinished all these masks, torsos and rostros from this admirable material called marble.

Most of my sculptures are exposed in the sculpture garden of Hondon Trucha.
